At the end of 2020, Jaeger-LeCoultre launched the Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Moon, a Master model with a new combination of complications. More specifically, it is the first time that the manufacturer has combined a moon phase display and a tourbillon in one timepiece. The moon phase display at 12 o'clock shows the lunar cycle as seen from the northern hemisphere and also has scales for the southern hemisphere and the age of the moon. TheCaliber 983powers this stunning timepiece and provides a power reserve of 45 hours. Jaeger-LeCoultre crafts the 41.5mm case of the watch from their newly developed proprietary alloy “Le Grand” rose gold.
Being so new, it can be difficult to find the Master Thin Tourbillon Moon for sale on the secondary market. At the time of writing, Chrono24 had an offer for this watch priced at around $67,000. This is a significant discount compared to the official list price of 94,500 euros.
Master compressor with innovative crown system
The models in the Master Compressor series are robust sports watches that owe their name to their so-called compression key system. This is an alternative to the usual screw-down crown. With a half turn of the compression wrench, you can pull out or push down the crown. With traditional screw-down crowns, you have to turn the crown counterclockwise several times before you can pull it out to set the watch. Another benefit of the compression wrench system is that it completely seals the case by applying pressure to an internal cone when closed.
A new Master Compressor is sold in stainless steel for around 9,400 euros. Ceramic-cased versions with a stopwatch function range from $8,200 to $12,000.

Atmos: a world famous pocket watch
VonReichThe watch has been part of the Jaeger-LeCoultre catalog since 1928. Invented by Jean-Léon Reutter, this unique atmospheric clock can use even the smallest changes in temperature to power itself. A change of just one degree Celsius (1.8°F) provides enough energy to power the watch for 48 hours. The hermetically sealed bell contains a gas mixture that expands as the temperature rises and contracts as the temperature falls.
Prices for a new Atmos start at around $5,300. Top models are limited editions and cost over $165,000.

Polaris: a sporty all-rounder
In 2018, Jaeger-LeCoultre launched a decidedly sporty watch line: the Polaris. The designers' goal was to add a modern twist to the company's impressive heritage. The entire collection is inspired by itMemovox Polaris, which JLC published in 1968.
The current series includes a selection of three-hand and chronograph models. While the three-hand and two-crown variants are only available in stainless steel, the manufacturer also makes Polaris chronographs in rose gold and titanium. A story of innovation
The history of Jaeger-LeCoultre began more than 180 years ago when brothers Charles-Antoine and François Ulysse LeCoultre founded their workshop in 1833. At first they only finished gears; However, in 1844 they developed an accurate gauge for making wheels. The millionometer could measure to the nearest millionth of a meter, also known as a micrometer, and would become a basis for the manufacture of precision watches. LeCoultre made countless pocket watches and timepieces. Other highly respected Swiss watchmakers such as Patek Philippe also appreciated the quality of these timepieces and often used them in their own timepieces. LeCoultre also mastered a variety of complications over the years.
The ebauche manufacturer LeCoultre began collaborating with the French watchmaker Edmond Jaeger at the beginning of the 20th century. It was the beginning of a collaboration that eventually culminated in a merger in 1937. VDO, a German manufacturer of tachometers, acquired 60% of Jaeger-LeCoultre SA's shares in 1978, while Audemars Piguet acquired the remaining 40%.
